It looks like there's a new version of Eclipse out now, called Eclipse Helios. Get it while its very new and shiny...! Since I'm quickly re-installing my favourite Plugins, here is a quick guide to what I install, and why...
SubversionSubversion is now a very popular and mature VCS, and its surprising that its not included by default. First, "work with" the Helios Repository and expand the tree of Module types until you can see "Collaboration". You will need to install "Subversive SVN Team Provider (Incubation)". Click "Next" a couple of times. Note, this might take a while to get going. Then wait while this installs and Eclipse restarts. http://www.polarion.org/projects/subversive/download/eclipse/2.0/update-site/
Bookmarks PluginThis is a Plugin that will allow you to keep tabs on many different Classes, Xml files and the like at once. Handy when you are rapidly switching backwards and forwards between all these different files. And this comes up quite a lot in Java...!
http://eclipse.etc.to/updates/ And then de-select "Group items by category". (This solves a problem with not being able to see the Plugin you are about to install.) After Restarting, this will give you a View called "Bookmarks". You can add a bookmark by pressing "Alt+Number, or by using Crtl+B. (You may need to play with the key Bindings to get one that you like). ObjectAid UMLI find that this is a very handy Relationship Visualisation tool. Install from http://www.objectaid.com/download.html by adding:
And then selecting the ObjectAid UML Plugin. After this, you guessed it, Restart...! |
