Well it looks like the Great Lucid Button Controversy is still raging. And now the Beta for Ubuntu Lucid has now been released. While I think its looking good, there's a few people out there who still prefer their Window Controls on the right-hand side of windows, where they were obviously intended. Luckily, Ubuntu being Linux, its quite easy to move them back. The procedure is the same as for Karmic 09.10. See below for details...

Right at the moment I feel like the kid in the tale about the Emperor and his New Clothes. Why...? Because of the Microsoft Courier. This has been much talked about in the blogosphere ever since it arrived back in late September. And some more details have come out, and Engadget has dutifully told us about them. And very predictably the blogosphere has gone into hyper-drive telling everyone how wonderful this.

Except there's a problem. Like the Emperor's Clothers, it doesn't actually exist.

Cannonical has revealed new theme-designs for Ubuntu 10.04. The designers have been trying to get away from the "Ubuntu Brown" that featured heavily before. They are now going the opposite way with Ubuntu Lightware — see the interesting designs on the Ubuntu Wiki. One interesting aspect is that they are showing the Window Controls (Maximize, Minimze and Close) in the top left of the Window area. (Usually they in the top-right).

Mocking is a great way to save time when developing. For example, say you are developing a service which interacts with a Remote Website via some kind of http interface. In order to test this fully with Junit you have to test each different error before you were confident that your code was completely robust. This might take forever, especially with rare error conditions. We also may put undue strain on the website with all this testing and annoy the Webmaster. This is where Mocking can come in handy.

These cameras are a popular buy with a Dell system. This is a quick guide on how to get them running fully. There are several guides and tips out there that indicate they aren't supported in the current Karmic kernel. Suggestions range between installing an unstable kernel to waiting for Lucid. I don't think you need to do that...
